Financial Help for American Indians and Alaskan Natives
The Affordable Care Act offers financial help to American Indians and Alaska Natives who are members of federally recognized tribes. This includes no health care expenses (depending on income) and no cost-sharing for covered services provided by an American Indian health provider or clinic.
If your household income is more than 100 percent and less than 300 percent of the federal poverty level, you can sign up for a zero cost-sharing plan. These plans have no copays, no coinsurance and no deductibles for health care covered by the plan.
With any household income, you can sign up for what is known as a limited cost-sharing plan. These plans have no copays, no coinsurance and no deductibles when getting care through an Indian health care provider, or for care received through a referral from and Indian Health Care provider.
If you are a member of a federally recognized tribe or qualify to receive services from an Indian health care provider, you may qualify to receive Medi-Cal without any premiums, copays, deductibles, coinsurance or other out-of-pocket costs.
You can apply for both Covered California and Medi-Cal at Covered California.
