Drivers for App-Based Rideshare and Delivery Companies

Californians who work as app-based drivers for ridesharing or delivery companies like Uber, Lyft and DoorDash may be eligible for financial help for health insurance. Contact the company you work for directly to see if subsidies are available and if you qualify.

If you don’t have a Covered California plan, you can enroll outside of open enrollment in a special-enrollment period. When you apply, choose “Newly qualifies for health insurance stipend” as your qualifying life event.

Proof of Coverage

Your rideshare or delivery company may require you to submit proof of coverage to receive a stipend. For drivers who purchase their health insurance through Covered California, a proof of coverage document is available within your Account Home.

After logging in, click the “View Proof of Coverage Documents” button in the “Tax Forms & Other Important Documents” section at the top of your Account Home.
